About Oludeniz
Oludeniz, some 15km south of Fethiye, is a wonderful travel destination with Baba Dağ (Mt Baba) casting its shadow across the sea, an extensive spit of sandy beach and its well preserved lagoon just next to a lush national park. Its natural beauty attracts thousands of tourists from around the world, making it a very vibrant destination. Oludeniz is surely one of the best places in Turkey and Europe for tandem paragliding. You descend from the pine-clad hills and laying out in front of you is the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean; you can understand why this beach is voted as one of the best year in year out. People come from the world over to jump from the 2000 metres to really appreciate the amazing view.

The word “Oludeniz” literally means “dead sea” and the place is locally known as Belcekız or Belceğiz.

How to get to Oludeniz
Being located just beside Fethiye, Oludeniz is easily accessible from Fethiye by bus. The road between Oludeniz and Fethiye is well-paved and in great condition. Tourists can take a minibus (locally known as dolmus) and/or a taxi from Fethiye as well to get to Oludeniz. A private transfer is also another cost effective method to get to Oludeniz.

Things to do in Oludeniz
Oludeniz offers a wide range of things to do and see for all travellers. Walking on the beautiful beach and having some relaxing time sunbathing are among the top things to do in Oludeniz. It is also famous for its Blue Lagoon that can be accessed by the beach and also from the nearby rocks where many of the blue cruise tours moor during their journey. One of the best and most popular ways to enjoy the bays and sites surrounding Oludeniz is on a blue cruise. The most popular trips along this route are the Fethiye to Olympos 4 day, 3 night cruise and the Olympos to Fethiye 4 day, 3 night cruise.

There are a great number of beach sports (both in the air and in the water) available for tourists in Oludeniz Beach. It is arguably the best paragliding destination in all of turkey and para sailing has also become a popular sport as well. For those wanting something a little calmer there is canoeing near the Blue Lagoon available.

For those wanting a one day cruise from Oludeniz, the Butterfly Valley cruise is a great option with a combination of siteseeing and relaxing. It departs from Oludeniz Beach and visits Butterfly Valley, St Nicholas Island, Cold Spring Bay, and the Blue Cave.


Babadag Mountain is of great interest to many tourists and a good number of tourists start the Lycian Way from this region. There is also a great hike from Kaya Koy over the back of the blue lagoon and into Oludeniz. Oludeniz is quite famous for its seafood as well and is home to many restaurants along the waterfront.

And last but not least, watching the sunset should be on your list of things to do in Oludeniz. The sea gets unbelievably beautiful around sunset and there are plenty of rooftop bars to sip a cocktail at while the sun dips into the horizon.
